Bally’s Arapahoe Park releases condition book #1

After a summer which saw the race meet be pushed back and nearly canceled, Bally’s Arapahoe Park has released their first condition book. Bally’s Arapahoe Park will run 31 race days, from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, November 10. Race days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

The condition book includes six race days from opening day Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 15.

Opening day is highlighted by the traditional opening day feature The Inaugural Stakes run over six furlongs for 3-year-old thoroughbred colts and geldings. Opening day will see quarter horse stakes action as well with the 350 yard Dolls Prodigy for 3-year-olds and up, Colorado-breds preferred.

Opening weekend has race-bred Arabians center-stage with the IFAHR Cup Arabian Maiden Stakes over six furlongs on Saturday as well as the six furlong Arapahoe County Commissioner’s Stakes for 3-year-old and older thoroughbreds. The Grade 3 Emirates Arabian VIP Stakes over a mile and a sixteenth for 3-year-old and older colts and geldings and the Grade 3 Emirates Arabian VIP Distaff Stakes also over a mile and a sixteenth for 3-year-old and older fillies and mares will be contested on Sunday. Nominations for the Grade 3 races close on Friday, August 30.

Additionally, thoroughbred fillies and mares 3-years-old and older will be in the spotlight for the Molly Brown Stakes run over six furlongs on Sunday, September 8.

The second weekend of the meet sees Rocky Mountain Futurity trials (330 yards) on Saturday and Rocky Mountain Derby trials (350 yards) on Sunday for 2-year-old and 3-year-old quarter horses. The dates for the finals were not announced.

2-year-old thoroughbreds begin competing on Saturday, September 7 with a six furlong allowance race written for Colorado-bred 2-year-old fillies who have never won two races. The following day is a five and a half furlong Colorado-bred 2-year-old fillies maiden special weight.  Friday, September 13, a Colorado-bred 2-year-old maiden race is also written over 5 and a half. The first 2-year-old quarter horse maiden race of the meet was written for 350 yards on Sunday, September 15. It can be assumed the majority of 2-year-old quarter horses will be running the day prior in the Rocky Mountain Futurity trials.

The final page of the condition book includes a nomination reminder for the Larri Lou Stakes, a Colorado-bred restricted stake for 3-year-old and older fillies and mares to be run over six furlongs.

Entries for opening day will be taken on Friday, August 30. Entries for each card will be taken one week in advance.
