Bally’s Arapahoe Park: Week 5
Kali K wins return in Leo Beau Dash
5-year-old mare Kali K returned in a big way on Sep. 28 in the 400yd Leo Beau Dash. After the scratches of Country Rocket Foose (post 1) and Pyc Fancy Cartel (post 2), Kali K broke on the rail in gate 3.
Immediately out of the gate Kali K had a ½ length lead which was extended to a length for the win in a final time of 19.953. She was given a speed index number of 97 for the win. Dolls Prodigy winner Mr Dash Fire was second.
Kali K is by One Fabulous Eagle and out of A Secret Episode (No Secrets Here). It was her 10th career win in 15 starts and 5th career stakes victory. Kali K was guided by Valente Vorrath for trainer Alexander Orozco and owner Luis Marquez.
Smyly victorious in Rocky Mountain Derby
Filly Smyly just got up by a neck in a strong renewal of the Rocky Mountain Derby.
The 10-horse field got away without many major incidents. There was some minor bumping between Emberly (7) and Presidio Pete (8), as well as Fiddle Faddle Foose (3) drifting outwards out of the gate. A few strides into the race Tds Quarter Moon bolted to the outside rail, giving Smyly from post 9 plenty of room to gain on the leaders Sticky Lou Who (1) and Secretsthatshekeeps (2). Smyly won by a neck in a final time of 17.792 for the 350 yards.
Smyly is a 3-year-old filly by Separate Interest out of One Tempting Chick (One Famous Eagle). She was ridden by Cordarelton Benn for trainer Chris Gandarilla and owner Celenes’s Racing.
Access Granted wins Rocky Mountain Futurity from rail
Access Granted secured his first career stakes when holding off a charging Unbridled Favor in the Rocky Mountain Futurity.
Breaking from the rail under Cerapio Figueroa, Access Granted sprinted to a clear lead. Access Granted had no threats until Unbridled Favor made up significant ground in the second half of the futurity. Access Granted completed the 330 yards in 17.020 with a speed index of 96.
